Spring 1001 - Tereken vs Altengard - Pfannkuchen Flachland

Feels like it's been awhile since I did one of these.

Sorry for the delay, my hobby stuff has become a shambles and I had trouble finding various things and carving out space to even play the game.

My son helped my by being official die roller and we had some fun playing out the battle.

I hope you enjoy it.

Altengard lost one Infantry, the Mercenary Horse Archers and the White Company Archers in the pursuit from Tereken. It is possible Herr General Rudolf Von Gelstorf dropped the Spear of St. Lindorf and the Fiddle of Calling when his men routed.

I chose to use the "Painted 3" filter as it obscures the fact that half, at a minimum, of my figures are unfinished.

Thanks for looking.

Mangu versus Mirish - Magic Unleashed

Mangu has drawn together the most Magic Users I've ever seen assembled on one side. A Level 3, a Level 2, and 3 Level 1s giving the Mangu virtual unlimited Magic.
After three rolls for terrain, the Mirish were forced to accept the last table or watch a season pass in the Campaign. The terrain was clear except for a large patch of woods in section 5, the center. As  both armies are mounted, this resulted in splitting the battle field in half.

The Mangu left flank faced three Elephants and  three units of Clibinari - heavy lance and bow armed cavalry. The Mirish moved forward on both sides of the woods.

Due to the high Rep of the Mangu units (all Rep 5), no one fled the field. But now they would be limited on what they ould move.

The Mangu Magic Users crushed three units at the start then continued to rain  down Blast spells. Rolling 8d6 on each spell cast, when the Mirish Magic Users could attempt to interfere, they were solely outnumbered so were of little effect.

As the victorious Mangu left tried to sweep around the woods and behind the Mirish army, the Mirish force on the other side, advanced, trusting on sheer numbers to overwhelm their opponents.

Despite horrible losses to Blast spells and skirmish fire, the sheer number of Mirish succeeded in forcing the Mangu to retreat. The Mangu Leader was killed, but none of the fast moving Mangu units were caught in the pursuit.

Wind Maidens Lead the Way

Just finished the battle between Tereken and Treyine.

Casualties were pretty heavy on the Tereken side - bad dice rolling and the Wind Maidens move pretty fast!

Betrayed By Nectarines

"I thought the General choked to death on Nectarines?", the girl asked.
"That's the official story," replied the Emperor's Advisor.
"What really happened?" she continued as she adjusted her outfit.
"No one knows for sure, but they are still investigating." he continued, "Must you leave so early?"
"Yes," she replied." I have a performance in a few minutes. I'll be back.
The Advisor never saw the Barylistani Dancing Girl again.

 **************************************
Upon hearing that General Pereira died I decided to play it out. So I set up my PowerPoint Market and divided the table into nine sections. I placed NPCs at random and used rolled dice to have them move randomly.

I had given each NPC a profession based on Legends of Araby. When they contacted Pereira's party I used the Interaction Tables for their profession. The first one was a Dancing Girl from Barylistan (generated by LOA) and Pereira got a positive result - she would let him come visit her at her place.

The NPCs moved at random and coincidentally assassin moved right after the Dancing Girl and Bodyguard had passed.

Using 2d6 Sword & Sorcery - included and tweaked for Legends of Araby - the assassin won the round of melee with the general, but only scored an OOF result.I had decided the assassin would make one attempt then run for it.

The noise attracted the bodyguard who was escorting the dancing girl, a melee ensued, and the assassin won that one. The next one to activate were the two foreigners on the roof. As one was an archer I figured he'd shoot. I scored snake eyes  then boxcars. That was some incredible dice rolling so I figured how interesting that the assassin is killed after his attempt.

So I let the encounter write the story. Now I'll be using New Hope City PI mechanics to investigate more into what really happened.

Pereria died from his wounds, but things do not appear as they seem.

I think I'll be using 2d6 Sword & Sorcery and Legends of Araby to revive the adventure side of Talomir Tales.

Autumn 999 - Treyine vs. Tropilium - Et tu Sir Godfrey?

Hi All,

Lots of projects and a lack of focus made this report late. I know, broken record. I did this one in what I'm calling House of Hengist style, minus all the interesting history and modelling bits. Here goes.

I'm not sure if it matters, because I think Tropilium has ceased to exist, but they have lost both Legionaries, the slingers, the Black Company Pikemen and the Hero.

Who knows what happened to the Horn of Naz-Goth?

The photos still aren't quite doing it for me, maybe it's the unpainted figures. I used my remote flashes for lighting and processed the images in Lightroom before importing them into the comic.

Thanks for looking.

Fool Me Once Shame on You - Fool Me Twice Shame on Me - Mangu and Mirish

"Don't charge?" the Captain  repeated.

"Correct, " General Pereira replied." Let them get close, then..."

The Clibinarii Captain smiled as he realized what the General had said. "Yes, I see. As you ordered, so it will be!"

The Captain snapped off a crisp salute and left the tent.

"Nectarine?" asked the lady.

"Thank you."
*******************************************
The Mangu watched as Mirish deployed. Their General nodded his head and gave the orders - Feigned Flight - and this time it will work.

  *****************************************
Except it didn't. Pereira realized that his cavalry had charged too soon. Last battle when the Mangu mounted skirmishers moved up to fire, the Clibs had charged. This time they let them get within bow range, but  fired instead - and each skirmisher took a hit. They passed reaction and returned fire - which made the Clibs charge and while the Mangu retired, they took a second hit. This meant the next time they were charged they would rout instead of firing.
Small change in tactics, but it provided a big result. Killing the Mangu General was luck and icing on the cake.

Mater Dies - Treyine vs Tropilium - Summer 999

Hi All,

Late again. :(

Anyways here's the latest battle report. Remember to right click and open image in new tab to see them fully embiggened.

The battle was over quickly when I rolled a 6 for leader at risk after the legion took 1 hit. Unfortunately the legionnaires of Tropilium are fairly brittle, and I didn't take that into account. I also had a situation with the Wind Maiden ships. The troops in them failed their enemy threat tests and so one routed and one retired. I'm not sure if I played it right. I honestly don't really care for the wind maiden at this point, but she's on the list.

I was looking forward to the Heroic combat that was about to take place, but then the whole leader lost thing happened and it went from bad to worse for Tropilium.

In the ensuing major pursuit Tropilium lost two legionaries. But not the generals unit. Is this the end for Tropilium?

Cannons and Caster - Mangu and Mirish to the Death

I played the Mirish side and rolled for the Mangu battle plan at random. Feigned Flight worked very well as it forced my cavalry to chase the skirmishers, taking casualties as they did. The cannon did considerable damage, more than I've ever seen before. Lucky for me the Casters did a good job.
